The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are for outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of:
The prestigious awards are made annually by HM The Queen and are only given for the highest levels of excellence demonstrated in each category. They are judged following a rigorous and highly competitive entry process.
In 2016, Byworth won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation. The accolade was in recognition of Unity, Byworth’s revolutionary control system.
Upon achieving the credible business honour, developer of Unity, Jason Atkinson and Technical Director, Adrian Rhodes (who’s concept it was) were invited to a Royal reception at Buckingham Palace, hosted by Her Majesty The Queen
Further to the Royal party, the Royal representative of Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe, Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire presented Byworth with a Grant of Appointment and a commemorative crystal bowl at Byworth’s award ceremony.
Byworth’s Financial Director, Rachel Westerman, along with Byworth’s Control Systems Engineer, Jason Atkinson (who oversaw the entire Unity project), accepted the commemorative rose bowl and scroll on behalf of the company. Many of Byworth’s employees, and a few suppliers and customers were there to join in the celebratory festivities and afterparty.
Commenting on the event, Rachel Westerman thanked the employees that had worked tirelessly to bring Unity to market, and its ongoing development.
